Newell Lions Club
The Newell Lions Club was organized September 1983. It is part of an international organization started in 1917. Today there are more than 46,000 Clubs in 205 countries and geographical areas. The motto “WE SERVE” stresses the purpose of the club in helping the community. The 45 members are willing to do their share by sponsoring pancake fundraisers, cleaning road ditches, working at basketball games and sponsoring checks for blood pressure, eye sight, glaucoma, diabetes and hearing. Some of the members have helped with building a Habitat for Humanity house. Continuous projects are collecting used eyeglasses and urging people to donate their eyes and tissues to the SD Eye Bank for transplantation. The Newell Lions Club meets at noon the second Wednesday of each month at TJ's Cafe.
